Biography

George Emmett Sands was born in 1856. He was the son of George Sands and Jane Whiting.

He was variously known as Emmett, George Emmett, or George E.

In 1860, he was enumerated in the census for the town of Elbridge, Onondaga, New York, with his parents.^[1] He was also enumerated in Elbridge with his parents in 1865,^[2] 1870^[3] and 1875.^[4]

He married Anna Mawhiney about 1878.

By 1880, he has married and is living with his parents George and Jane, brother Guy, wife Anna and son Howard in the town of Elbridge.^[5] In 1900, he was living with his wife and children in Elbridge.^[6]

In 1905 his household included George E, his wife Anna, daughter Julia and son Harold.^[7] In 1910 he was living in Syracuse, New York with wife Anna, daughter Julia and son Harold.^[8] By 1915 he had returned to Elbridge, living with his wife Anna.^[9] He was living in Elbridge with his wife Anna in 1925.^[10] In 1930 his household in the town of Elbridge included George, his wife Anna, daughter Julia and son--in-law Almon Robinson.^[11] By 1940, he was widowed and living in the town of Geddes with his daughter and her husband.^[12]

He died unexpectedly 21 December 1947, at the home of his son Howard in Montclair, New Jersey. He was survived by sons Howard and Harold and daughter Julia.^[13]

He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan, New York.^[14]
