Biography

Warren was born 10 Mar 1899[1] in the town of Elbridge, Onondaga County, New York. He was the son of Guy Sands and Florence Burk.

In 1900 he was living near Jordan in the town of Elbridge with his parents on his grandfather's farm.[2] The household included Geo Sands age 66, his wife Jane W Sands age 66, son Guy W Sands age 28, daughter in law Florence A Sands age 27, grandson Warren Burk Sands age 1, and boarder Michael Hare working on the farm, all born in New York

His father purchased a farm near Warners in the town of Camillus, Onondaga County, New York about 1 April 1902.[3] Warren lived on this farm on Sands Road for the remainder of his life.

In 1905 he was living on the family farm in the town of Camillus.[4] The household included Guy W Sands age 32, his wife Florence A Sands age 32, son Warren Sands age 6, daughter Marian J Sands age 3, and mother Jane W Sands age 70.

In 1910 in Camillus[5] the household included Guy W Sands age 37, his wife Florence Sands age 37, son Warren Sands age 11, daughter Marian Sands age 4, daughter Ruth Sands age 2, mother Mrs. Jane Sands age 79, and hired man Michael Hare age 48.

In 1915 in Camillus[6] the household included Guy Sands age 42, his wife Florence Sands age 42, son Warren age 16 working on the farm, daughter Marian Sands age 13, daughter Ruth F Sands age 8, son George Sands age 5, son Edwin Sands age 3, and son Albert Sands age 2. Warren was working on the farm, as was boarder Michael Hare age 50. Marian and Ruth were attending school.

He registered for the World War I draft September 1918 in Baldwinsville, New York[7], listing Guy Whiting Sands as his employer and nearest relative.

In 1920 he was working on the farm in Camillus with his father.[8] The household included Guy Sands age 47, his wife Florence Sands age 46, son Warren B Sands age 20, daughter Marian J Sands age 18, daughter Ruth Sands age 12, son George Sands age 9, son Edwin Sands age 8, and son Albert Sands age 6. Marian was working in a rope factory. Ruth, George, Edwin and Albert were attending school.

In 1925[9] the household included Guy W Sands age 52, his wife Florence A Sands age 52, son Warren B Sands age 26, daughter Ruth F Sands age 17, son George Sands age 15, son Edwin Sands age 13, and son Albert Sands age 11. Guy and Warren were farming. Ruth, George, Edwin and Albert were attending school.

In 1930[10] on the farm in Camillus the household included Florence A Sands age 56 and sons Warren age 31, George age 19, Edwin age 18 and Albert age 16. Florence was a widow. Warren and Edwin were working on the farm and George was a clerk in a grocery.

He married Clara Viola Osmond 3 Oct 1931 in Marcellus, Onondaga County, New York.[11][12]

On the farm in 1940[13] the household included Florence Sands age 64, her son Warren Sands age 41, daughter in law Clara Sands age 42, and son Edwin Sands age 27.

His wife Clara died in 1945.

He married Edna J Daratt 8 Jun 1946 in Auburn, New York.[14] She was previously married to Albert E Bailey.

Warren and Edna remained on the dairy farm on Sands Road in Camillus, and hosted a Sands family gathering each Christmas.[15]

He died in Sept 1969.[1] He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan, Onondaga County, New York.[16]
