Truman Wright Sands was born on July 4, 1876 in Mordansville, Columbia, Pennsylvania, son of Henry Harrison Sands (1840–1915) and Elizabeth Jane Beck (1847–1923).

Truman died about 1930 in near Suffern, Rockland, New York, aged about 53.
