Beatrice loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, and also loved going to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. According to Lucy Sanford, Beatrice had colon cancer around 1985 and had a colostomy

Waynesville, Mae Beatrice Sanford Winchester, age 81, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Park Ridge Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Pearl Sanford. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Winchester who died in 1999; two sisters, Blanche Medford and Anna Kate Sanford; and three brothers, Jack, Frank, and Robert Sanford. Beatrice loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, and also loved going to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Goss and her husband, Perry, of Mills River and two grandchildren, Ashely Goss and Nathanial Goss and his fiancé, Callie.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Green Hill Cemetery with her grandson, Nathanial Goss officiating.
