In her 1826 baptism record she is recorded as Laura Jospehine Sansquartier, born to Joseph Sansquartier and Angelique Letourneau. The 1844 marriage record at the Assumption Church in Sandwhich records her as Josephine Nouvion, daughter of Joseph and Angelique. The usage of both names was well enough known that the note section of the 1906 Essex County death register for Laura reads: Nouvion sometimes called Sans Cartier.
