Biography

Taimi was born in 1898 in Pori, Finland.^[1]. She was the daughter of Viktor Santanen and Ida Holman. Taimi means “young plant” or “sapling” in Finnish. She immigrated in 1905 with her mother and brother, joining their father ^[2]in Ely, Michigan. ^[3] In 1910 Taimi lived in Ely with her parents, her siblings Frank, Kauno, and Esther, and a lodger, Victor Mattson. ^[4]She married Arvid Johnson before 1923. ^[5] She passed away in 1959 in Douglas, Alaska.
