Biography

Margherita Santaniello, also called Margaret, is the twin sister of Annina. They are the daughters of Salvatore Santaniello and Angelina Grasso.

Margherita and her twin sister travel with another sister, Romilda, and their mother, Angela, on the Finland, arriving on 2 June 1909 in New York. They’re going to Springfield, Massachusetts, to join her father, Salvatore, at 16 River St.[1]

On 10 January, in the 1920 federal census, Salvatore Santaniello, 58 (b. 1861), Angelina, 54 (b. 1865), and their daughters Annie, 20 (b. 1899), and Margaret, 20 (b. 1899), live between the homes of their married children, Adelaida and Joseph, on one side, and Peter and Roma on the other, on Hubbard Ave in Springfield. Philip Santaniello also lives on the street.[2]

Margaret (1900-1968) and her husband, Anthony Mazzarella (1897-1953), are buried in a family plot in St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield, MA, with Margaret's sister, Adelaida Santaniello and her husband, Giuseppe Scibelli.[3] Giuseppe Scibelli is a known associate of the Springfield Mafia under Sam Cufari.
