Biography

Anna was born in Austria during the time that it was part of Russian occupation. The area was called Galacia. She had been married in Austria to a man with the surname Okas. He died in the war. She was said to have left children in Austria. One was blind. She decided to bring her oldest daughter named Caroline with her to America to give her a better life. She was intending to save money to bring her other children here but was not able to. She met Jan Marmila in America and married him. They together had three children, Anna, Stanislaus, and Josephine. When Jan came to America, he stole away on the ship. He later changed his last name to Nicholas. No one knows why. In one census, it was spelled Nyklis. It has been a mystery as to who his parents in Poland where. The Marmila name is a dead end.

Anna is confusing due to various surnames. She also listed Poland, and Austria as her birth place on different censuses.

Sanz-14 and Okas-2 appear to represent the same person because: same son

Sanz-15 and Sanz-10 appear to represent the same person because: These people match, save for country of birth, which probably can be resolved.
