Subject: Perrott's of Laugharne

Hi Anne,

Sorry for the delay but I have been trying to sort my Perrotts out. I can’t find an obvious link with your Perrotts, but there must be some connection as it is not a common name. My Perrotts link by marriage to my research into the Sare/ Saer line of Laugharne and Llansadurnen. They all seem to be connected to Llansadurnen, but as you know records back that early are very patchy.

The earliest I have is Griffith Perrott died and Buried in Llansadurnen Church in 1636 - Probate 25 January 1636 • Llansadurnen, Carmarthenshire, Wales Will dated 3 Jan 1636. Bequests to David, William and Rice Perrott (sons), Bridget Perrott (daughter), Jane (wife). Executor Jane (wife). Witnesses Rice Palmer, Richard Harry, David Hew(?). There is a • Deed of Gift 22 January 1632 • Property in Llansadurnen Gift of property in Llansadurnen from John Lloyd, St Twynnells, Pembs. to Griffith Perrott. Witnesses Thomas Palmer, Richard Evans, Richard Reynish. (This was copied from the Sare family papers)

Griffith’s eldest son David married a Dorothy and had 3 living daughters Ann b1669, Bridget b1672, and Margaret b1675-1762.

Ann married William Smith and Bridget married Francis Hinton in a double wedding at Llansadurnen Church on 20th October 1692.

Margaret married Thomas Sare about 1698, probably in Llansadurnen Church.

Marriage Settlement 17 August 1700 • Property - house and land in Llansadurnen Post-marriage settlement of Thomas Sare and Margaret Perrott. 1. David Perrott of Llansadurnen, yeoman. 2. Richard Reynolds, Llansadurnen, yeoman and David Harry Pantyglace, Laugharne, yeoman. Property - house and land in Llansadurnen.

I also have another Sare/Perrott connection in Llansadurnen - Elizabeth Sare married Walter Perrott on 23 June 1705 in Llansadurnen Church. I suspect that Walter Perrott is from Laugharne as their first child William Perrott was born in Laugharne c1706. Elizabeth I think could be a cousin of some sort of Thomas Sare. I have no more information on this branch of the family. Walter could be a link with your Perrotts going by naming patterns.

Hope some of this is of use to you,

Best wishes

Elizabeth
