James (Sarjantson) Sergeantson was born in Lincolnshire, England.
James Sarjantson was born about 1824. He was the son of James Serjantson and Ann Yardley. James was baptised on 7th December 1824 at St Oswald in Crowle, Lincolnshire, England. [1]
In 1850, James, a labourer, married Sarah Hoe, daughter of Wiliam Hoe. The marriage by banns took place at St Guthlac in Crowle, Lincolnshire, England. [2] The following year saw James and his wife living in Yorkshire (although it was likely still Lincolnshire then). They had living with them a very young George Howe, noted as 'son-in-law' to James. [3]
In 1855, James and Sarah had a daughter, Harriet. She passed away the same year. [4]
In 1861, James and his wife had moved to Fishlake, Yorkshire. James was a farmhand. The couple had six children. [5] Their names were:
In the final year of his life, James was captured on the 1891 census with his wife and grand daughter, Olive M. Belwood. They were residing in Gas House Road in Crowle, Lincolnshire. James was still a farm labourer right up until he passed away. [6]
James passed away at the age of 66-years-old and was buried on 22nd April 1891 in Crowle, Lincolnshire, England. [7]
