Subject: Seeking Credible Sources for SAR Application: The Jeremiah Newbury Family Lineage
Seeking citedable documented family history, specifically focusing on Thomas Newberry (1766-1829), believed to be the 2nd son of Jeremiah Newbury, a Revolutionary War Patriot of Connecticut, and his wife Prudence Satterly/Satterlee. I am seeking any newspaper, book references, family bible or published sources to substantiate this lineage for a SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) application. Family trees must be sourced. Need to prove parent, son relationship.
Thomas Newberry is believed to have been born in Rhode Island in 1765-66 and died in Glens Falls, New York in 1829. Married three times:
First to Susannah Sherman married before 1798 in Washington County, NY. - 4 children- Sherman, Mary, Sylvester & Nathan (my lineage)
Second to Prudence (last name unknown) around 1800 in Washington County, NY. 6 children -Prudence, Anson, Lora, James, Mercy, James #2
Lastly to Lucinda Danford/Danforth around 1824- Washington County, N,Y.-2 children Constant & Spencer
Despite extensive research, I have been unable to find any recorded documentation of Thomas' birth, marriages, or death. I do have information on Thomas’s parents, his older sibling Jeremiah, and other siblings. Unable to connect information from parent to son, Thomas. Not to be confused with the Thomas Newberry family of Massachusetts.
My name is Roger Roscoe and I live in the Tampa Bay area, I am a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
I am doing research to add Jeremiah Newberry as additional patriot with the Sons of the American Revolution.
I cannot find any evidence that the National SAR will accept that Thomas is the son. Do you have anything in your files that can help me out?
