Delma Raymond “Ray” Satterwhite b. 6 June 1929 d. 24 July 2013 m. 20 Jan 1951, Byrdie Jay Sims. He owned a Construction Company in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a horseman and did what he called “horse camping” as a hobby. Meaning he pulled a horse trailer out into the country, then rode his horse further out into the country and camped. His way of answering the "Call of the wild".
Obit: Ray Satterwhite, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Service: 3 p.m. Friday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel.
Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Ray was born June 6, 1929, in Crockett to Edna and Earl Satterwhite.
He married the love of his life, Byrdie Sims, on Jan. 20, 1951.
Ray was an avid horseman, loved hunting and riding horses in the mountains with his buddies. "Grand Daddy" enjoyed watching his daughter, Lisa; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren ride and compete with their horses.
Ray will live in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors: Wife, Byrdie; daughter, Lisa Gunter (Tony); grandson, Dustin Ray; granddaughters, Brandi Davis (Chuck) and Lauren Gunter; great-grandchildren, Cody Ray, Cutter and Kinley Davis; and numerous loving family and friends.
