Biography

According to the Satterwhite family history, Thomas Satterwhite b. 4 June 1799, Columbia Co., GA d. 29 Jan 1872, Claiborne Parish, LA (farm home was between Athens and Minden) married Martha D. Mathews, b. 8 Feb 1805 SC d. 25 Dec 1886, daughter of William Mathews, in Columbia Co., GA, on 23 Dec 1824.

Before 1830, they joined the migrations west and came to make their home in Claiborne Parish, LA. In the 1880 census Martha Matthews Satterwhite was still alive.
