Biography

Joseph Gonzer Saucier was born on April 23, 1903 in Oconto, Oconto, Wisconsin, United States, son of Augustin Saucier (1858–1949) and Elizabeth Louise Surprise (1868–1946).[1]

Joseph married Margaret Agnes Bartlett (born on June 21, 1905 in New York, United States; daughter of George W Bartlett and Margaret (Melvin) Bartlett). Their son was Joseph Gonzager Saucier (~1924–1985).

Joseph died on March 6, 1972 in Manitowoc, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, aged 68. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.[2] [3]

OBITUARY[4]

Joseph C. Saucier, 68, of 524 N. Fifth St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Cyril VanKeeswyk will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Saucier was born April 23, 1903, at Oconto, son of the late August and Eliza Surprise Saucier. He was employed at Simmons Bedding Co., Kenosha, until 1949, coming to Manitowoc. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy as a ships cook from Sept. 26, 1942, until Aug. 24, 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88.
Survivors include a son (Survivors omitted for privacy.); three brothers, Herbert and Milton, of Oconto and Wilber, of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Harold, of Oconto and Mrs. George Faulds, of Kenosha. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
