Research Notes
Notes:
Regarding Berchree Saul, son of Oscar Calvin Alexander. He was Oscar's third child not first. He was illegitimate and his name was Berchree Donald Saul. Oscar was married to Cora Ober and they had two daughters, Melba and Iris. Cora was not a particularly attentive wife or mother and often went out of town to stay with her mother or other family members or whatever she was doing. She did, however, have two small daughters to care for and she would have to take them with her which I guess cramped her style so she hit upon the idea of having her young sister Juanita stay with the girls while she went off. Well, Juanita was a teenager (16 or 17) and very pretty and Oscar got her pregnant. He brought her up to either San Bernardino county or Riverside County and married her under the name Saul. Berchree never forgave his father for giving him the name
Saul instead of Alexander. He said what was even worse was that it was a Jewish name to boot. Berchree was very much a member of the family and always attended family gatherings.
