Permission for Barthel Joseph Saul of Birkenrude to move to North America from the Royal Prussian State, together with his wife, four minor children, and his widowed mother-in-law, Maria Elizabeth Pfeil.
It was made clear to Saul that all of them named herein lose all citizen rights of the Royal Prussian State and cannot return if forced to leave North America.

From the Birth and Baptismal Register of the Church of San Sebastian at Bickenriede near Muhlhausen in the Government District of Erfurt.
1. Born and baptized at Bickenriede on 27 August 1811, Bartholomew Joseph Saul, legal son of manual laborer Sebastian Saul and his wife Anna Maria nee Gunter: Baptismal witness was Bartholomew Joseph Droessler of Bickenriede.
2. Born and baptized on 12 April 1810 at Bickenriede, Christina Pfeil, legal daughter of the former royal school teacher Valentine Ignatz Pfeil and Maria Elizabeth nee Noering, born at Helmsdorf. Baptismal witness was Maria Christina Grechs of Bickenriede.
The present Barth. Joseph Saul and Christina Pfeil were married on 19 July 1830 in the church at Bickenriede and they produced the following children in the marriage (4):
a. Johann Valentine Ignatz Saul, born 8 February at 7 p.m. and baptized on 9 February 1831. Baptismal witness was school teacher Valentine Ignatz Pfeil.
b. Christina Elisabeth Saul, born 7 June at 1 a.m. and baptized the same day in 1833. Baptismal witness was Maria Elizabeth Pfeil nee Noering.
c. Elisabeth Saul, born 13 September and baptized the same day in 1835. Baptismal witness was Elisabeth Degenhart nee Pfeil of Bickenriede.
d. Anton Eduard Saul, born 21 May at 3 p.m. and baptized 22 May 1838. Baptismal witness was school teacher Anton Gassman of Bickenriede.

From the original church records of the parish of Helmsdorf, district of Muhlhausen in the Government District of Erfurt.
In 1783, on 8 May was born and baptised the widow of the school teacher Valentine Ignatz Pfeil of Bickenriede: Maria Elizabeth Noering, legal daughter of district mayor Andreas Noering and Anna Maria nee Wande. Baptismal witness was Miss Maria Elizabeth Noering.

The holder of this document: Joseph Saul of the Second Squadron of the Royal Eighth Cavalry of Bickenriede, District of Muhlhausen, Government District of Erfurt,

Born on 27 August 1811 and entered active military service on 18 March 1829.
Has now completed two years six months of active service and is granted an indefinite furlough
To Bickenriede, District of Muhlhausen, Government District of Erfurt, and is transferred to the first draft of the reserve on 18 March 1837.
Upon arrival at the place of residence selected by him the same must immediately report to the Sergeant of the Reserve District, presenting this pass, and doing also in case of change of residence, as well as in event of travel, and to repeat this report each time. It is left to the district to determine if this report is to be made to the Sergeant at the district of departure as well as the Sergeant of the district of new residence.
The same has no rights for disability support.
Clothing, uniform items received as his discharge:
1 cloth jacket
1 cloth trousers
1 field cap
1 pair boots
1 shirt
1 neck cloth, etc.

The reservist Joseph Saul of Bickenriede by decree of the Royal Government District of Erfurt on the 4th of this month has received permission to emigrate. In accordance with the higher decree, he received his discharge and is released for all military obligation to the Royal Prussian State. 18 April 1839.
