Note N124Know all men by these presents that Elizabeth Degenhard of the County of Perry and State of Illinois for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to my son Valentine Degenhard and also in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid by my said son at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have given granted released and confirmed and these present do give grant alieu release and confirm unto the said Valentine Degenhard all of my personal property consisting of one black horse named Charlie, aged about twelve years, one grey mare named Grey aged ten years, two cows, one calf, one _________, one reaper (Little Chief), two two horse wagons, two sets of harness, seven head of hogs, one harrow, two iron plows, one gang plow, eight acre of growing corn, thirty (30) acres of growing wheat, four stacks of wheat now stacked at my place of residence, one sewing machine (Florence), lot of carpenters tools, all my household and kitchen furniture, beds, bedsteads, and bedding upon these special conditions that is to say that the aforesaid Valentine Degenhard shall suitably provide for Hattie Degenhard, his siter, how seven years old, also Johnny Degenhard, his brother, now five years old, until they shall arrive at the age of fifteen years, the words suitably provide for meaning he shall furnish them with suitable food, clothing, lodging, and medical attendance in case of sickness and shall also keep and maintain his mother Elizabeth Degenhard by furnishing her with sufficient suitable food, comfortable clothing and lodging, medical attendance when requested by her to do so during her natural life. In Witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Degenhard have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-seven day of September 1880.
