During his long term in office with the Board, he was a devoted supporter of the programs of the Wissahickon Farm School/Philadelphia High School of Agriculture & Horticulture. Walter Saul made sure the funding was provided through the Board of Education. It was only because of his planning and persistence that the school was made possible.

Walter Saul was on the Board of Education for twenty-five years. He was so important to public education that a high school was named after him while he was still alive. [1]The Walter Biddle Saul High School of Agriculture and Horticulture. Walter Biddle Saul was the first and only living person to have had a public high school named after him in the City of Philadelphia.[2]. It was in 1966, in acknowledgment of his contribution to public education, and his dedicated backing of the school, that the Board of Education changed the name from the Philadelphia High School of Agriculture & Horticulture to the Walter Biddle Saul High School of Agriculture and Horticulture. Today the school is called the Walter Biddle Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences[Page showing the School and Changes through the years], and is still dedicated to the memory of Walter Biddle Saul and his persistence, dedication, and wonderful work in making this school possible.
