He lived with his mother during the 1900 United States Federal Census where he is listed widowed with children Gladys, Marvin, Mable and Etha (female) Saul. Elbert married Julia Nora Culver on November 9, 1902. Elbert and Julia had 8 more children (total 12 children). The other 8 children are: Ralph, Robert, Beulah Hester, Mary, Don, Warren, Verlin and Clare (male) Saul.
