In 1752, Pierre and Madeleine were counted on a census in Petcoudiac with 4 boys and 4 girls. [3][4]
He married Marguerite Hébert on 31 July 1753 in Annapolis Royal. [1][5] The witnesses were Charles Forest, Alexandre Hebert, Joseph Forest and Pierre Maillet.
Pierre and Marguerite appeared on a census in 1755 at Petcoudiac. (See research notes) [6][4]
He died on 15 June 1755 at Fort Beauséjour, Acadie, killed by the explosion of a bomb. [7]
According to historian André-Carl Vachon, Pierre's sister Marie-Anne, widow of Jean-Baptiste Aucoin, boarded a ship that left Miramichi in August 1757 and arrived at the port of Quebec around 18 August 1757. Travelling with her were her children Alexandre, Jean-Baptiste, Marie-Josèphe and Elisabeth, as well as the orphan children of her brothers Pierre Saulnier and Olivier Saulnier. [8]
Pierre is listed as deceased in the marriage record of his daughter Francoise Saulnier, 24 Jun 1767, Saint-Joseph-de-la-Pointe-de-Lévy. [9]
Pierre is listed deceased when his son Jean married at St. James, Louisiana.[10]
Research Notes
There are discrepancies concerning the number of children recorded on the 1755 census at Petcoudiac. Stephen White's book Recensements de Beaubassin et des Trois Rivières de Chipoudie, de Memramcook et de Petcoudiac (1686-1755). indicates that no children were listed while on the original record, p. 6, a note was added to Pierre Saulnier, husband of Marguerite Hébert, had 5 boys and 2 girls in the family home. [4] In the book, these 5 boys and 2 girls are linked to Pierre married to Marie Boudrot.
