Biography

Jacques was born about 1685. White doesn't give a place for his birth.[1] At age 29, he lived with his family in 1714 in the River of Old Habitation, together with his 4 brothers and 5 sisters. His younger brother Marcel was married and had two children living nearby. This family made up half of the people living in this village.[2]

He married Anne Hébert, daughter of Jean Hébert and Marie-Anne Doucet, no place given for marriage, [1]probably at Minas about 1724.[citation needed]

They left the Minas Basin and settled at Petitcoudiac.[citation needed]

Around 1740, in Acadie, widowed Jacques married another Anne Hébert, daughter of Jean Hébert and Jeanne Doiron. [1]

Also, DNA research would show that Marie Anne is the daughter of Anne Hébert married in 1740. [1]

(Voir famille Jean Hébert [no 3], note de S.A.White no iii.)
Google translation: i. The eldest child of Jacques Saulnier and his first wife Anne Hébert was baptized at Grand-Pré on December 25, 1725. This Jacques must have been the son of Louis Saulnier and Louise Bastineau dit Peltier, because the oldest of the children - children of these would not be born until 1711, too late to marry around 1724. In the 1707 census, Louis Saulnier had five sons. Two of these would be Pierre and Étienne who did not appear with the family in the census of 1693, so they were the two boys said to be under fourteen in 1707. The three sons said to be over fourteen in 1707 were by consequent the same three which were enumerated in 1693. He who was the consort of Anne Hébert from 1724 was therefore the same Jacques who was born around 1685. Mention of Agnès Daigre, granddaughter of Joseph Hébert and Anne-Marie Boudrot, as cousin of Joseph Saulnier in the census of Cabahannocer of 1769 allows us to identify the first wife of Jacques Saulnier as daughter of Jean Hébert and Marie-Anne Doucet (see family Jean Hébert [no 3], note by S.A. White no iii). The petition of Édouard Saulnier, son of Joseph, for a dispensation in order to be able to marry Denise Arseneau, granddaughter of Basile Babin and Marie-Anne Saulnier (Disp Louisiane 11 Jan 1799), however gives us the proof that Joseph and Marie-Anne were both children of Jacques Saulnier. However, the results of two mitochondrial DNA tests in the descendants of Marie-Anne Saulnier (haplotype W) prove that Marie-Anne's mother could not have been the daughter of (Jean Hébert and of) Marie-Anne Doucet, because further tests indicated that her mitochondrial DNA was haplotype H (from her maternal grandmother, Perrine Bourg). So, we have to believe that Jacques Saulnier married a second Anne Hébert, who became the mother of Marie-Anne. This second Anne Hébert must have been the daughter of (Jean to Étienne Hébert and of) Jeanne Doiron, because the latter was at the time the only mother of a Hébert family with the same genetic signature, as the results showed. two other tests in the descendants of his daughter Jeanne Hébert (wife of Augustin Guédry) (see S.A. White, CEA, files genealogy, miscellaneous). - Family of Louis Saulnier (1)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacques by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line. Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacques:

Jackie, see the research note. Based on DNA results, SAW added (in 2011 in Ajouts) a 2nd wife to Jacques Saulnier, and Marie Anne would be her child. I do not know if DNA results are the same 8 years later. Do we add the 2nd wife?

yes i believe SAW is reliable enough to go ahead with adding the 2nd wife he mentions.
