Richard Preston Saunders, Jr.was born in 1880 in Brooklyn, New York to Richard Preston Saunders, Sr. and Carolina Johanna Frederika Van Heerdt LeFebre (Saunders). He appeared in the 1880 US Federal Census - a three-month-old baby.

Richard married Henrietta Anastasia Keth - perhaps the sister of Barbara Julia Keth - Gustave Richard Saunders' wife. The couple had children - among them Molly Saunders and Josephine Mary Saunders.

In 1925, Richard Preston Saunders, Jr. signed the death and probate documents of his brother - Gustave Richard Saunders - noting that he was present at his death.

Richard Preston Saunders, Jr. died in 1948 at East London, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
