Biography

M. Sauter hatte in Bietigheim eine Weberei. Er war einer von den jungen Leuten, die König Wilhelm I nach Frankreich schickte, um dort das Weben von Bettzeugleinen zu lernen. Er sah in Paris die Hochzeit von Napoleon I mit der Österreichischen. Die Webschule kam zuerst nach Bietigheim und wurde später nach Reutlingen verlegt. Martin hat dann in Bietigheim eine eigene Weberei angefangen.

07 Feb 1784 in Dürrenmettstetten. He is the son of Ziegler (=brickmaker) Conrad Sauter and Margaretha Schwenk.[1]
