His nick-name was Huck. He was a tall gangling boy so someone called him Huck after Huckleberry Finn and the name stuck.

Obit: SAVAGE -- Clifford Linus Savage of Route 3, Box 111, Springfield, passed away January 14, at the age of 69. He was born Jan 3, 1904, in Marcola, Oregon. He was born of pioneer parents and had lived in Lane County all of his life. He started horse logging at the age of 15 and was a logger all of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by four sons; C. L. (Roy) Savage of Eugene, Fred of Freemont, California, George of San Francisco, and Gary of Ukiah; one daughter, Alma Furry of Seattle; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Dent, of O'Brian, Oregon. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan 17, at 2 pm in BUELL CHAPEL with Reverend Vernon Wiggers of Mohawk Community Church officiating. Internment in Marcola Cemetery. (From Find-A-Grave)
