Cecilia (Savage) MacCarthy has Irish ancestors.
Reared at St. Vincent's Home and School for Girls in Washington, D.C. Father unknown Mother and family returned to Ireland before 1920 Aunt Mary also returned.

- Her name on the birth certificate is "Mary Cecilia Savage" but this is rarely seen elsewhere.
- It is reported that the orphanage had support from Duncan Clinch Phillips Jr (1886-1966).
