Queen Consort of the Kingdom of Italy.
Margherita Maria Teresa Giovanna di Savoia, Daughter of Prince Ferdinando di Savoia Carignano, Duke of Genova, and Princess Elisabeth von Sachsen, was born on 20 November 1851 at Palazzo Chiablese in Torino, Piemonte, Regno di Sardegna (Kingdom of Sardinia).
On 21 April 1868 Margherita wed her first cousin Umberto, Prince of Piedmont, later King of Italy. On 11 November 1869 Margherita gave birth to Vittorio Emanuele, Prince of Naples, who later became Vittorio Emanuele III, King of Italy.
In 1878 Princess Margherita became Queen of Italy, when her Consort, Umberto, ascended the throne.
Queen Margherita died on 4 January 1926 in Bordighera, Italy, and was buried in the Pantheon, Roma, Italy.
