Biography

Simon Savoye was born 17 Aug 1723. He was the son of François Savoie and Marie-Josèphe Richard. He was baptized 5 Sept 1723 at Saint Charles des Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadie. His godparents were Antoine Dupuis and Marie Granger.[1]

Simon Savoie and Anastasie Francoise were married about 1745 in Acadie.[2] They had six children, five named and one unknown name.[3][4]

  1. Marie Anastasie Savoie, née vers 1742 St-Jean-Baptiste, Port-Royal, Acadie; mariée avec Michel Constantineau le 14 juin 1763 à L’Assomption, Québec; décédée le 6 mars 1813; inhumée le 8 mars 1813 à Ste-Thérèse, Québec. Ils ont eu 13 enfants.
  2. Elisabeth Savoie, née vers 1749; inhumée le 13 décembre 1765 à L’Assomption. Résidence: MOULIN DE L'ACHIGAN; 16 ans.

After these children were born, he and Anastasie must have escaped to Miramichi, as the family was on the "List of the passengers of the ship, probably Le Raphaël, which left Miramichi around August 3, 1757 with 182 people. It arrived at the port of Quebec around August 18, 1757." with the family listed as:

145. Simon Savoie dit St-Sauveur, widower of Anastasie-Françoise Thibodeau
146. Marie-Anastasie Savoie, her daughter (note 72)
147. Elisabeth Savoie, her daughter
148. Françoise Savoie, her daughter
149. François Savoie, his son
150. Michel Savoie, his son[5]

The footnote 72 says "Engagement as servant of Anastasia-Marie Savoye (10 years old) by Simon Savoye, widower of Françoise Thibaudeau, of the city of Quebec, St-Roch district, to Madeleine Villiers and Plaine, her currently absent husband". Notary: Jean-Baptiste Decharnay.", again reinforcing that Simon was a widower by then.

That the unknown child born c 1755 was not listed says that the child had died earlier, perhaps at birth since it's name is not known.

His marriage record to Angélique Glinelle gives his origin as BEAUBASSIN EN ACADIE

Mariage 2
Angélique Glinelle, fille de Jacques Glinelle et de Marie Louise Saint-Onge, épousa Simon Savois, veuf de Françoise Thibaudaux, le 26 janvier 1761 à St-Sulpice. [6]
