Biography

James 'Lil Jimmy' Sawyer was born 5 January 1880 in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas to James Bennett Sawyer, Sr. and Romalda Jane "Malda" Lowe or Harris.

He married twice: first, 4 February 1901, at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to Lula Lenora Roberts; and second, 8 March 1929 at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to Inez Louise Ingraham, daughter of James Ingraham. Lula Lenora and Jimmy had children Florrie Louise, Maurice Thomas, and Lenora Lilla Sawyer. Jimmy and Louise had a daughter born in 1932.

James Bennett Sawyer died 9 April 1935 at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. He was 55 years of age.

Bahamas Births 1850-1891 (1882) lists James' mother as "Rowalda Harris" Linking James to Romalda ("Rowalda" Harris) is working supposition based on the Bahamas Births 1850-1891. There is no evidence of a marriage between Romalda and the father of James Bennett Sawyer, Jim Bolton/Bennett Sawyer.
