Biography

Mary Sawyer was born in 1856 in Indiana. She was the daughter of William Sawyer and freed slave Sarah Roberts, and the half-sister of Civil War veteran George Scott of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

Education

In 1870, she is attending school in or near Arlington, Michigan.[1]
