Millicent was born in 1889. She was the daughter of James Say and Esther Kendall.

She grew up with her family in Whangamata, where her father was a storekeeper.
Millicent was married to Arthur Arden Ellis in 1916 in Auckland.

Arthur had been a miner in Whangamata in 1903 and later married in 1912. His first wife died in 1914 and he married Millicent two years later.
However they separated in 1920 and divorced in 1923.

Millicent did not have any children and did not marry again.
In 1931, she was a staff member of the Rob Roy Hotel in Waihi.

In 1935, she was living at 22 Turner St, Auckland East.

In 1938, she had been working as a charwoman. She passed away on 27 March 1939 in the Auckland Mental Hospital, where she had been admitted a year earlier. Cause of death was bacillary dysentery. The coroner's inquest reported that her sister (Clara) visited her frequently.
