Biography
3rd Great Grandmother of US Senator and Presidential candidate John McCain.
When her father died he left Polly all his land and mills known as High Rock Plantation. Polly married Joseph in Rockingham County, N.C. on 25 June 1807. One of Polly's son's was Doctor William Alexander McCain 1817 - 1863 who married Louise McAllister (1812-1883). William was the 3rd great grandfather of U.S. Senator and 2008 Presidential candidate John Sidney McCain III. Another of Polly's sons was John Sidney McCain, M.D. 1829 - 1898.
The Rockingham County, N.C Heritage book says her name was Nancy "Polly" Scales on page 543.
