Biography

William Scales was born September 1877 North Carolina, United States of America.

He married Lucille Mae ‘Lillie’ Long 31 October 1895 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Louis Gaston Long and Cornelia Adelaide Faircloth. William was 20-years-old and Lucille was 19-years-old as recorded in the marriage register. William was a resident of Donnaha, (sometimes called Donnaha Station) in Old Richmond Township of Forsyth County, North Carolina. They had five known children.

There is a Find A Grave Memorial for a William L. Scales born 7 September 1877 at Forsyth County, North Carolina and died when he was 34 years old 10 October 1911 at Forsyth County, North Carolina and buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pfafftown, Forsyth County, North Carolina. There is a notation that he was single and the son of James Scales and Mary Wall, both from Forsyth County, North Carolina. Although this death date would fit Lucille's second marriage date of 9 November 1917 Forsyth, North Carolina, the notation that he is single does not indicate he is the same William unless he and Lucille divorced. This writer has not been able to confirm if this is the same William Scales[1].
