Anne was born about 1837 near County Limerick, Ireland. She was daughter of James Scanlan and Jane Lanphier.
She emigrated alone to Australia, age given as 18, on the "Western Bride" in 1855. [1]
Married Thomas McElligott in Victoria in 1856.[2].

Sadly, Thomas was murdered in his shop 1859 near Bendigo, Victoria (refer Thomas' profile for details). Anne was struck with a weapon on the head & Hands at the same time, these weapons may have been knives or a sword.
Anne McElligot married Arthur Magee in Victoria in 1861[3].

She passed away in 1917 and was buried at the White Hills Cemetery. [4].
The funeral of the late Mrs. Anne Magee, widow of the late Mr. Arthur Magee, took place yesterday morning from her residence, 20 Lucan-street, to the White Hills Cemetery. Although carried out privately, a large number of intimate friends attended. The Rev. Father Murphy read the burial service. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. Fizelle and Mulqueen.
"OBITUARY.
LATE MRS. A. MAGEE.
A very old identity in the person of Mrs. Anne Magee, widow of the late Mr. Arthur Magee, a former well known timber merchant, of Bridge-street, Bendigo, died early yesterday morning at her residence in Lucan-street. The deceased lady was 81 years of age, and had been ailing for some time. The late Mrs. Magee's daughter is the wife of ex-Police Inspector Hannan, and resides at Kangaroo Flat. A son, Mr. Joseph Magee, is in Sydney. The funeral will take place this morning at 11 o'clock to the White Hills Cemetery."[6]
