Biography

Winona "Nona" Mae Scarborough was born on June 20, 1903 in Rock Creek, West Virginia to Wesley and Sarah Allen Scarborough. (The last name is sometimes spelled Scarboro in records.) She was one of nine known children born to the couple.

Nona married Leslie Lee on June 21, 1919 in Raleigh County, West Virginia. They had eight known children. Leslie died in 1949.

Nona married Van Buren Jarrell on April 19, 1952 in Packsville, West Virginia. It is not known if this couple had any children. At some point, they lived in Ohio. Van Buren passed away in Whitehall, Ohio in February 1984.

Nona moved to Texas after Van Buren's death (perhaps to be closer to children?). She died in Spring, Texas on March 1, 1994.
