Born
15 JUN 1781.
probably Southington, Connecticut. [1] Note: in the 1790 census the family was living in the part of Southington, CT that became Wolcott in 1796, so that is probably where she was born.

Source: S31 Shaw Family Bible Note: Only 4 pages of data remain from this bible, and in 2001 were in possession of Paul B. Phelps. The bible was apparently presented from Rev. Isaac Scarritt to his daughter, Lovinia, at the time of her marriage in 1854 in IL to Fenton Shaw. The first entries are in a different hand and were probably made by Rev. Isaac, copied from an unknown source, with subsequent entries made by the Shaw family. The compiler has a scanned copy of one page of births and one page of deaths. A letter in the files of Ralph Pearson, author of The Scarritt Clan is on the letterhead of Rose Mather of Evanston, Illinois. It is a listing of what she calls Isaac Scarritt's Bible and says, "Bible in question printed in 1827, Cooperstown, New York by H & E Phinney." Although the births and deaths are combined, the entries are so similar to the Shaw Bible that it must be one and the same. She even comments, "Record leaves out a lot for there was another brother Josiah Adkins, 1792 - and Isaac fails to mention his two marriages and six children (five beside Mrs. Shaw who evidently made her own entry)."
