Nikolaus and Anna arrived at Port of New York on 24 December 1854 from Prussia (Germany) and were among the early settlers in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois. Their daughters Anna Catherine and Anna Maria arrived in Johnsburg the following year, 1855
