Biography

When Carrie A Schaffer Albert was born on August 18, 1893, in Blacksburg, Virginia, her father, Thomas, was 31, and her mother, Anna, was 24. She married Lester Lankford Albert on August 1, 1922, in Montgomery, Virginia. They had three children during their marriage. She died on October 24, 1944, in her hometown at the age of 51, and was buried there.Carrie Albert was a deacon in the Church of Christ. A woman in the ministry was not typical in those times however, one of the Gospel advocate’s most esteemed writers, C. R. Nichol, held that women served as deaconesses in the early church and that they should be accorded that same opportunity today.
