Biography

Johann Henrich, or Heinrich, was a son of Maria Elizabeth Schaeffer and her husband Johannes. He was born about 1698 in Germany. [1]

He immigrated to America with his family. Johann Heinrich Schaster was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Queensberg, New York, on 23 March 1712 at Queensberg (West Camp Luth. Chbk.).[1]

He married Anna Maria Margaretha (known as Maria Margaretha) Schaeffer, daughter of Gerhard Schaffer and Anna Maria Saugeressig, in Schoharie (Schoharie County), New York in 1722. [1]

Children of Henrich Schaeffer and Maria Margaretha Schaeffer were:[1]

  1. Elisabetha, born about 1722 and died after 13 Feb 1798.
  2. Christian, born 7 Sep 1723 in Schoharie, New York; married Maria Elisabetha Kniskern in the Lutheran Church in Schoharie on 20 October 1747. There were no children; he died in 1767. He is often described with the title "Captain" and in one record is called a "cripple".
  3. Catharina, born 1725; died Apr 1762.
  4. Maria, born 1728; died 29 Jun 1796.
  5. Anna Maria, born 1731.
  6. Sophia, born 17 Oct 1731; died 11 Oct 1807.
  7. Christina, born 1733; died 14 Jun 1762.
  8. Jacob, born 4 Feb 1735; died 17 Nov 1809.
  9. Sarah, born 1737.

Heinrich died on 29 August 1776 in Schoharie, New York, at the reported age of 78, and was buried there on 31 August 1776.[1]

Schaeffer-694 and Schaeffer-662 appear to represent the same person because: I believe you tried to merge this already and I was unsuccessful in completing it. These two profiles represent the same person and I was in error when loading the profile.
