Biography

When Gertrude ( Pauly ) Schafer was born in December 1856 in Wisconsin, USA, her father, John, was 42, and her mother, Anna, was 37. She had four brothers. She worked as a dressmaker and never married, but followed her family members from Wisconsin to Iowa to Washington, where she died on 29 July 1952 in Spokane, Washington, USA, at the age of 95, and was buried there.
