Leo Albert Schauer was born on Monday, July 29, 1889 in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents were Bernard Frederick Schauer Sr. (Saturday, June 19, 1852 - Sunday, July 21, 1912) and Philomena Snyder Schauer (Thursday, February 10, 1853 - Thursday, April 19, 1934). Leo was the 5th born of six children. In the late teens he married Eleanor Schauer. Her name appears as Leo's wife in the 1920 U.S. Census, but no other information is available. No maiden name appears in any family tree. There are no records to explain how Leo became a widower by the time the 1930 U.S. Census was taken. By 1940 he married Mary Elizabeth Tryon, twenty-two years his junior. They had no children. She worked for many years as a secretary for a Pittsburgh medical office. Leo had a variety of jobs in Pittsburgh. In 1910 he was a clerk for an insurance office, in 1920 he was a superintendent of apartments, in 1930 he was a food store manager, in 1940 he was a foreman at a freight station, and at the time of his death he was a guard for the Pittsburgh branch of the Cleveland based Federal Reserve System. On Saturday, July 27, 1963 he died unexpectedly from an acute myocardial infarction. At the time of his death he resided at 3026 Hazelhurst Avenue in Pittsburgh, PA. He is buried at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, Allegheny County, PA.
