Mary married John Schmitz on 8 Feb, 1887. Since he died the year I was born, I don't remember him. Aunt Mary lived on a little farm just beyond Bear Valley, and we visited her quite often. She didn't have much as far as worldly goods were concerned. The house seemed old even then, and is long gone. Her son, Leo, his wife, and family lived with her. Leo and Dolly had three children before she developed tuberculous. Aunt Mary took care of her. She was in a bed on a porch, and it was cold. That seemed to be the way they took care of them then. They needed lots of fresh air. She died when she was only 28 years old.
