ERNEST SHELL [SCHELL]] DIES

Fostoria and vicinity was shocked by the sudden death of Ernest Schell , age 64, on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31st 1950. He was stricken in the woods with a heart attack and arrived at the home of his brother, John, where he passed away suddenly.

He was born in Almont on January 13, 1886, son of the late Daniel and Sarah Ann Currey Schell and moved to this vicinity when a small child living in Fostoria for the past twenty-eight years., where he owned and operated an aceteylene [acetylene] welding and repair shop. He was an ardent church worker, being a member of the Fostoria Methodist church, Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the male quarter and choir. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge Grange, Business Men's Association and held an office on the Township Board.

He was united in marriage to Mayme Rowell on June 20, 1911 at Silverwood. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Edward at North Lake, Dannie at Fostoria, two daughters Mrs. Waldo (Anna Dell Ganer [Garner] of Vassar, Mrs Russell (Agnes) Rader of Fostoria, six grandchildren, two brothers, Warren and John of near Fostoria and three sisters, Mrs Geo. (Edith) Sutter, Mrs Ethel Sutter and Mrs Jennie Bell and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the West Deerfield Church on Saturday, Feb 4 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Pitcher, Interment was in West Deerfield Cemetery.

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were from, Detroit, Royal Oak, Pontiac, Flint, Unionville, Cass City, Saginaw, Snover, Mayville, Vassar, Almont, Brown City, Millington, Tawas, Columbiaville, Midland and Port Huron.
