Walter Schenck was born on December 30, 1848, in Franklin, Ohio, to Isaac Plume Schenck and Catherine Du Bois. He married Emma Eliza Combs on September 20, 1876. They had four children during their marriage. He died on December 21, 1930, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 81, and was buried there.
