Biography
Johan was born in Utzhausen, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. He married Catherine Seibert on June 6, 1834 and had six children in Germany before emigrating to Canada in 1848.[1][2] They lived in Waterloo, Ontario as farmers.

By 1881, John and Catherine lived alone but their son Henry lived nearby and was enumerated directly above his parents.[4]
John died (age 77) from old age on July 23, 1884 in Wilmot Tp., Waterloo, Ontario.[5] John Schenk was the informant.
