Biography

Helena (a.k.a. Lena) was a daughter of Richard Schermerhorn and Annatje Van Vechten. She was baptized in Schenectady, New York, on 8 November 1781. ^[1]

Lena Schermerhorn was married to Nicolaas P. Clute on 11 September 1799. Their children were: ^[2]

1. Peter, born June 1, 1800, d. Mar. 4, 1855.
2. Rykard Schermerhorn, born Aug. 30, 1802.
3. Annatje, born Jan. 26, 1805.
4. Jacob, born June 17, 1807;
5. Hubartus Van Vechten, born Oct. 2, 1809 ;
6. John, born Aug. 31, 1811;
7. Ann Maria, born May 18, 1813;
8. Frederic, born Oct. 22, 1815.

Nicholas Clute and his wife Lena both died in August 1832; Lena died on 15 August and her husband died two days later on 17 August. ^[3]
