Samuel was born in 1921. Staff Sergeant Samuel Schira served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the son of Samuel Schira and Marie Sunberry. He passed away in 1991, and was buried at Saint Edwards Cemetery, Coal Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.[1]

Staff Sergeant Samuel Schira, son of Mrs. Marie Schira, 1131 West Gowen Street, was liberated from a Nazi prison camp on April 29. He was taken prisoner on December 18, while serving with an infantry unit, He was first reported missing in action, and later a prisoner of war.[2]
