Biography

Otto William Schirm was born July 13, 1895 in Newhall, Benton County, Iowa, United States, to Heinrich "Henry" Schirm and Katherine Rinderknecht. Otto was baptized and confirmed in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Atkins, Iowa. He and his wife, Marie Dorthea Ernst, farmed a farm a mile and one-half East of Newhall, Iowa. They had two children, Glenn Orville and Norine Elizabeth. In 1948, they retired and moved into their Cedar Rapids, Iowa, home. Their son, Glenn, continued farming their farm at that time. Otto remained a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, until his death of a heart attack on October 11, 1953. Otto was buried at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa, United States.[1]
