Biography
Carl August was born in 1860. He is the son of Gottlob Schirmer and Anna Dorothea Dohnt. [1]
Obituary 11 Apr 1940. Mr. C. A. Schirmer. The death occurred recently at his residence near Greenock, of Mr. Carl August Schirmer, who was born at Charleston on June 8, I860, and grew up in the Freeling district. In 1885 he married Ellen, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Higgs, of Freeling. The couple lived at Daveyston and Greenock before Mr. Schirmer went to Western Australia for three years, later returning to Broken Hill for two years. In 1904 he returned to Greenock, where he purchased a farm, on the Kapunda road. His wife died in October, 1937, and thereafter his health began to fail. He leaves five daughters and three sons, Mrs. F. W. Nitschke, Nairne; Mrs. Vera Maitland, Morialta; Mrs. W. A. Kirchner, Freeling; Mrs. J. Obst, Greenock; Mrs. L. Noack, Kapunda; Messrs. Albert, Woodville; Charles, Morialta; and Percy, Greenock.[2]
