Ruby Ralston, age 94 of St. Augustine, died at 5:53 pm Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Prairie City Rehab and Health Center in Prairie City.

She was born on December 2, 1918 in Hermon, the daughter of Martin and Lucinda (Derry) Schisler. She married Owen J. Ralston on May 26, 1937 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Ruby is survived by her children, Margaret (and James) Carmean of St. Louis, Missouri, Joyce (and Raymond) Sandy of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jim (and Glenda) Ralston of Avon and Carol (and Roy) Kitch of Prairie City; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.

She lived in St. Augustine most of her life. She worked at the former Blue Bell Company in Abingdon and later worked for 23 years at Club 41 in St. Augustine, retiring from there in 1986. She was also a homemaker. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years from 1955 until 1965, a former trustee for the Village of St. Augustine, was a member of the Knox County Home Extension, and she was a volunteer at the Roseville Nursing Home and at the Care Center of Abingdon.

She was a member of the St. Augustine Christian Church. Her hobbies included making crafts, sewing, crocheting, quilting and reading.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Babbitt Cemetery near St. Augustine. Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
