Weitenau is in southwestern Germany, less than 20 miles from both the French and Swiss borders. This is mentioned because it may influence the ancestry of the Schloetzer and Bartelmos familes.
Niklous' first name is spelled two different ways in the two sources listed, and both are likely not correct. I will continue to search for additional records to try to discern the correct spelling.
